It’s not every day I get to say that my photographs make a meaningful difference in the success for others, but I am humbled and proud to say that in the case of this young woman, that is exactly what happened.
The portrait I created recently for 16 year old Tyler earned her the Rising Star Photogenic Award at Dance Xplosion’s 2018 Regional Finals Dance Competition earlier this month in Andover, MA!
Most often as a Boston headshot photographer, I am typically hired to capture portraits of business professionals for use on their company website or for their LinkedIn profiles. This headshot I did was for a young and talented 16 year old teen actively pursuing her passion in dance, at regional dance competitions.
Tyler’s mom contacted me about two weeks before an important dance competition. They needed a professional headshot for her as part of the program. Tyler and her mom came in and we worked interactively in the studio, capturing images tethered directly to my computer. This way, we could review each of the images as we went along to make sure everyone was happy with the choice of clothing, hair style and expression. We selected our favorite, and in the retouching process, I created a color and black & white version of the portrait.
After the weekend competition, I was thrilled to learn that Tyler’s professional portrait earned her the Rising Star Photogenic Award!! Wow! Her mom couldn’t wait to tell me the good news, and shared these images of Tyler receiving her award.
Congratulations, Tyler! You are a star and I am so proud of you.
Tyler is enrolled in the dance program at the All About Dance studio located 213 Essex Street in Swampscott, MA. You can learn more on their website and on their Facebook page.
