Remember when you were a kid
and mom rallied everyone together
for a family photo?
“C’mon kids, we need a photo for the holiday card.
Get your coats. Let’s go!”
I remember it well. Mom got out her tripod and set the timer. Of course, doing it that way, it was basically impossible to know if everyone was actually looking at the camera or if we even happened to have our eyes open. But back then, it was the only way she knew how to get all of us in the photo together. It was better to have something, as opposed to nothing. We even rounded up the family pets, and as you can see from our family picture how well that worked out with our siamese cat. Ha!
(Yeah, that’s me — the one with her eyes closed — holding the not-so-thrilled family cat.)
Now it’s your turn as a parent. Time to rally the kids for the annual holiday photo. But even with all that technology we have within our reach, and access to instant digital gratification, it’s not always a sure thing. Trying to get all the happy smiling faces looking in one direction — and still get yourself in the picture… well, it’s not that easy!
So, today, I encourage you to take your best shot at capturing the annual photo. And make sure you get in the photo with your kids. And even if you decide to do it yourself, be sure you really do it.
Because today’s photos will become tomorrow’s Throwback Thursday. #tbt
And if you’re not up to the task, doing it yourself, we can help. And we have the perfect opportunity to do so. Starting this weekend, we are hosting an event for families in the area who want that classic New England fall sweater photo experience. And we’ll make sure everyone’s eyes are open and looking toward the camera!
