Frequently Asked Questions
for Wedding Photography
by Bobbie Bush Photography

How would you describe your primary style and approach?

Our experience tells us that no two wedding are alike. Each wedding we photograph is approached with a fresh eye, open heart and a sensibility to observe even the smallest detail. On your wedding day, we closely shadow you, quietly anticipating and observing the moments of love, joy and spontaneity. We always bring a second shooter to ensure that we capture multiple perspectives, knowing that some of the most memorable photographs are taken while a couple is unaware of our presence.

I dislike the really stiff posed wedding photographs.
We do, too! We believe in getting natural expressions and keeping the mood upbeat and fresh. We do only the minimal necessities of posing you and your bridal party. Stale expressions are not permitted! We do what it takes to get you to relax and enjoy having the photos taken!

How do I know if you’re the right wedding photographer for me?
It’s important that you feel comfortable with your photographer, since we’re the one vendor you will have the most interaction with before, during and after the wedding. We take our relationship with you seriously and get to know you so that you are comfortable throughout the entire process!

Who will be photographing our wedding?
Bobbie presently shoots 95% of all her weddings. On rare occasions, if she is not available, she may assign an experienced assistant to cover your event. You will always meet the photographer and assistant who will be photographing your wedding ahead of time. We’re not a big wedding studio that farms out an unknown shooter to your event. We take the time to get to know you. We sit down with you for a planning meeting approximately two to three weeks prior to your wedding date to go over all the details and to make sure we’ve got everything covered.

Do you shoot alone or with an assistant?
Bobbie always brings an experienced second shooter to assist her. This way, we are able to be in two places at one time and cover more of your event.

How many pictures will you take?
Between the two of us, we shoot constantly, accumulating well over 100 images an hour. In the end, we fine tune the image selection to approximately 600-700 images for an average eight hour wedding coverage.

What type of cameras, equipment, and backup do you bring?
We use the latest Canon professional digital equipment and always bring plenty of backup equipment.

How long do you stay at the wedding?
It’s up to you how long you want us there! We begin coverage with a minimum of four hours. You decide how long we stay into the night. The most common is an eight hour coverage.

Do you shoot film or digital?
We are 100% digital and have been for over five years. We shoot in high quality digital raw format and each image is individually adjusted for color balance, contrast and exposure.

What about black & white?
All of our images are captured in color digital raw format. Any of the images can be processed out as beautiful black & white photographs. In fact, when we design our wedding albums, we find it works best for the overall design to mix together the color and black & white throughout the book.

Can we provide you with a list of “must have” photos?
Sure, in fact we encourage it.

When will our proofs/album be available?
Your proofs will be available online approximately three weeks after your wedding. The finished proof book usually follows one week later. We bring with us a small supply of cards for you and your guests with instructions on how to view the wedding photos online in our password-protected web gallery.

Can I purchase the digital negatives?
Yes. You have the option to purchase the high resolution digital files with your package.

What album styles do you offer?
We offer leather bound flush mounted custom designed albums and more recently, we offer hardcover bound coffee table books. Take a look at Bobbie’s signature style flush-mounted Designer album.

Do you provide video?
We’re strictly still photography shooters and stick to what we do best! However, we’ve worked with a number of videographers and can provide you with some great referrals. Check out our preferred wedding vendor list.

Have you shot a wedding at my location before?
We have shot at many locations in the area. If we haven’t shot at your specific location, we always do a walk through of the site a few weeks prior to your wedding date to become familiar with the property, views, lighting and indoor/outdoor photo opportunities.

What happens in the case of an emergency?
Of course we would never expect (nor have we had) any last minute emergencies, but in the event of such emergencies, we are prepared to call upon our network of professional photography associations and trained assistants to handle your event. We will go to great lengths to ensure that you are well covered by someone we trust and respect.

How many years have you been photographing weddings?
We are now in our 12th year of business and going strong!

Have you won any awards?
We’ve been voted one of Boston’s best wedding photographers in the City Voter online poll.

Do you have references I can call?
Absolutely.

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes, of course. And you are smart to ask that question.

Can I see a sample contract?
Yes. We’d be glad to provide one at your initial consultation.

How much do you charge?
We start with a four hour coverage at $2,500. Packages range from $3,100 to $6,600.

Do you offer engagement photo sessions?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage them, as it is a great way for all of us to get to know one another and get comfortable around the camera.

I’d like to see more, can I schedule a studio visit?
Yes, absolutely. We often make appointments with couples on weekday evenings to accommodate most 9-5 workday schedules.

Where are you located?
We are located in historic Salem, MA. The studio is located near the Salem waterfront in Shetland Industrial Park. Visit our site for a detailed map, directions & parking information.
